Effects of Quenching on Corrosion and Hardness of Aluminum Alloy 7075-T6

Quenching affects the mechanical and corrosion properties of precipitation-hardenable alloys such as aluminum alloy 7075-T6 (AA7075-T6). In this paper, as-quenched AA7075-T6 are predicted within framework quench factor analysis (QFA), using cooling curves obtained from a test. Theoretical computational approaches used to predict spatial temporal variations temperature. The temperature consequently material properties. A test is carried out on block quenched partly in water air followed by hardness measurements electrochemical characterizations. results show that potential decrease rate decreases. further suggest existence product layer for water-quenched part sample. This was not observed air-cooled part. new prediction model developed QFA method, cyclic polarization, impedance spectroscopy results. present may be potentially reduce number tests evaluating AA7075-T6.
